Jay McDonald II, M.D.

J.E. “Jay” McDonald, II, M.D., is recognized worldwide as an expert in refractive and cataract surgery. He is board certified in both refractive and cataract surgery by the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, a diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology, a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a fellow of the Society for Excellence in Eyecare.

Dr. McDonald has developed a premier comprehensive ophthalmology practice, performing a large number of both cataract and refractive surgical procedures each year. In addition to conducting clinical trials, he is frequently published in medical journals.

Dr. McDonald is a recognized leader throughout the ophthalmology industry, serving as a past president of the American College of Eye Surgeons, currently serving as editor of The American Cataract Society and Refractive Surgery Eyemail and as an active member of the International Intra Ocular Implant Club. He is credited with discovering CLAPIKS and the Alphagan Scotopic Pupil Effect, which has benefited patient outcomes worldwide. Dr. McDonald is a regular instructor for the AAO, ASCRS and ACES meetings. He serves as an industry consultant and sits on medical advisory boards for premium ophthalmic companies. Dr. McDonald is also the recipient of the American Academy of Ophthalmology Achievement Award.
